USA Tariffs Notice:

Shipping to the USA is being worked on by our national courier in the UK – Royal Mail. Currently they have provided an option to allow continued shipping to the USA. This is a delivery duties paid (DDP) service, and currently this duty is calculating at 10% for the customs category we ship these enclosures under. *This is still subject to changes*: If the duty cost increases you will be contacted when the item is ready for dispatch to the additional duties, if it goes down we will of course refund you any fees erroneously paid.

Our latest enclosure uses a swappable faceplate to allow both the Blackmagic 8k G2 (with HMDI mezzanine removed) or the Decklink Quad to fit. It comes with both faceplates, so if you have a Quad now and plan to upgrade to an 8K in the future, or you just need the flexibility to swap then it’s got you covered. It connects to your computer with USB4 (fully compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4) – the U4 connection is compatible with Sonnet ThunderLok (for standardised Thunderbolt cable sizes). Although not passive like our DL Duo 2 enclosure, this enclosure is super easy to get your card installed into, no removal of the fans is required.

Please note: The “BNC Bracket” option should only be selected if you are using the Decklink Quad and would like the additional top bracket that allows mounting full size BNC ports, please also select the pigtails if you require these. The last image in the gallery pictures this option.

It’s powered by push-pull input (cable/PSU is not provided as standard, please select with options) , with a voltage range of 10-20v so you can run it from a standard 12v battery if required, and it has a 1/4-20 mounting point to prov Video ide maximum flexibility for your build.

The enclosure comes with the I/O panel/shield for both the 8k and the Quad, so no matter which card you have or want to use in the future they are both fully compatible with this enclosure.

Are you finding the fans are too noisy?:

For the Quad, we have a guide one swapping the fans for Noctua fans: LINK(some soldering required)

The 8k fans can often be heard ‘ticking’, a little like they are rubbing as they spin – this is due to how the card drives the fan. It essentially turns the fan on and off rapidly to modulate speed (the same principle as PWM, but on the voltage line), and at low speeds this can be heard as a ticking sound. This ticking sound actually emanates from the components on the board itself, not the fan, as such it can’t be eliminated with a fan swap. This usually only happens at low speeds when the card has been freshly booted, as the card warms up and the speed increases this ticking is less audible. As such we recommend seeing if you find the fans too noisy once the card is fully in use.

BNC mount now available:

The latest version of our enclosure still has mounting points for a bracket to hold full size BNC connectors if you are using the enclosure with the Quad. DIN can be notoriously troublesome, so this bracket means less faffing about with pig-tails and less failed DIN connectors. See it in our shop here: https://digitalimage.tech/product/decklink-quad-bnc-bracket/

The following is required to fit the card to the enclosure

T10 Torx Driver
PH0 Philips Driver

Ask a Question

    FAQ
    ?

    Whats the noise like?

Audible but not terrible. If you are a meter or so away you can hear the fans spinning, but built into a cart it shouldn't cause you too much issue.

We will be updating this question response with a dB rating shortly.

    ?

Does this enclosure work with both version of the Decklink 8k?

Yes! The 'new' version of the Decklink 8k - the "G2" just has the HDMI mezzanine connector (which you cannot use in this enclosure, SDI only!) - the card is otherwise identical. So long as you have or are buying a "Blackmagic Decklink 8k" of any variety it should work just fine!

    ?
